The Silver Cup in Harpenden, Hertfordshire is a pub at the entrance to this village as you arrive from St Albans on the road north towards Luton. It is on the edge of the lovely Harpenden Common, near the entrance to Rothamstead Park.

Adam’s family moved to Harpenden from North London in the late 1960s. Therefore, over the years Adam spent a fair amount of time in and around various locations of recreation and conviviality in Harpenden and it’s environs. Indeed, Adam married Mrs Smith in Harpenden.

For many years Adam’s father enjoyed visiting this pub and he met and made many friends there. The pub has been renovated over the years and from the web site looks to be in excellent condition. Further, it now offers accommodation as well as food and the excellent Charles Wells beers. One or two of which are now available in bottle in NZ.

The Silver Cup is a delightful character pub located on a main road in Harpenden. Having had an extensive refurbishment in Spring 2005 the pub offers a great range of facilities and comfortable furnishings to ensure your welcome is a warm one. There is a bar and lounge where you can enjoy a delicious snack at any time of the day. The cosy restaurant has an a la carte menu with full table service where you can taste exceptional cuisine all freshly prepared by our highly professional kitchen staff. There is a fantastic selection of wines available to complement your meal or a choice of real ales if preferred. As we have Cask Marque accreditation these are prepared and served to the highest standard. Come and visit us soon to try something rather special. The experienced staff offers warm, friendly service and there is a passion for fabulous food! You will not be disappointed!!

Overpriced for what it is. The food, in particular, is very pricy for a basic menu. Staff are always friendly though

They may be trying too hard to be a gastro pub.

My memories of the place are good. The location is excellent, so if you are ever in the area take a look. One review I read did say it was full of Kiwis and Aussies!
