Free Trade Agreements
Adam is very pleased that we are going to sign an FTA with China, despite his concerns as noted elsewhere over the Tibet situation. New Zealand will benefit immeasurably through developing a quality trade relationship with China.
Adam would like to see rapid progress towards an FTA with that other emerging titan of Asia, namely India. He considers that to be an essential. Further, a strong economic relationship with the world’s largest democracy would provide a necessary counter balance to the China relationship.
Further, India and New Zealand both have much to gain from such a relationship in Adam’s humble opinion.
India and China are countries which will hugely influence the region in which New Zealand exists. It is critical that we have excellent relations with both.
In the elections this year a critical question of both major parties should not be the USA FTA, but where are their plans to progress an agreement with India and for that matter South Korea and Brazil.
