From a Parallel Universe: 1
Now Adam came across this rather bizarre item:-
They need encouragement
Last week, Ford Randell, 18, was jailed for 28 days for “four charges of intentional damage”. He was referred to as a “graffiti vandal”.
Taggers aren’t vandals. They’re artists with a specific talent – they produce amazing images. I wish I could draw or paint as they do. When I see their graffiti, I can’t but admire it.
Of course, decorating someone else’s property without permission is wrong. But these artists have nowhere to practise their art. They obviously need huge surfaces but such canvases don’t exist. That’s how tagging became criminalised.
Special centres where tagger artists can practise their art should be set up. Regular competitions for them should be held, with prizes. Art books with taggers’ art should be published.
The way the law and society treat graffiti artists is despicable. Instead of condemning them and treating them as criminals, we should look after these talented people.
Randell’s treatment was sad rather than infuriating. I hope the treatment he received won’t turn him against society. The law is an ass. I wish him all the best.

Ok, this is the Stuff reference
Now as far as Adam is concerned this is the position:
- graffiti may be art
- tags are not graffiti
- tags are not art
- tags are vandalism
- taggers are vandals
- Vandalism is a crime
- taggers are criminals
