Boris Johnson has become the Mayor of London.

As an ex Londoner, Adam was pleased with the outcome, as he remembers Ken Livingstone from the days when he was Red Ken, Labour leader in the Peoples Republic of Lambeth.

This proves Old Etonians fluent in Latin are still electable.
I believe that Londoners were more than willing to overlook the fact that Boris Johnson was an old Etonian, because he is at least honest, has made mistakes and apologised for them and is willing to openly admit that he is not perfect, nor does he have all the answers. If more of our politicians were like that, the electorate could feel much more confident in modern politics.
Instead, modern politics is just a blame game, how often have you heard important issues put down to party politics. “the previous party did this…did that…etc”. What we need are honest politics, people that make mistakes and admit to them, politicians in power that look forward, not backwards and above all, politicians that represent (and therefore listen) the majority, not the minority.
