Blogging and the AP

David Farrar in a post at Kiwiblog drew attention to this item by Bruce Simpson at Aardvark on what Adam considers is an extremely ill considered attempt by Associated Press to constrain comments made by bloggers on AP articles.

The Aardvark piece is a a good treatment of the issue.

Adam has noted that there appear to be varying views on this matter.

It would be Adam’s surmise that in the main bloggers contributed substantially to additional traffic at sites with referenced copy.

There may be an issue where a site perhaps over relies on one source almost exclusively, but Adam doubts that in the case quoted at Aardvark.
