Morons

Well, Adam has used this one before, but he is using it again, because he thinks that Peters is doing it again, treating anybody who does not slavishly fall in with his wishes as a moron, worthy only of his, Peters, contemptuous dismissal.

There has been substantial media and blogosphere coverage of the blusterer today and rightly so.

Despite this some people still seem to regard him as the Messiah of New Zealand politics as he rants about foreigners and the evils of business.

Adam notes these comments today by Duncan Garner in his blog at Decision 08:-

Peters credibility has been damaged. He’s turning defence into attack. It’s all he’s got left. Helen Clark’s silence is remarkable but not surprising. She needs him if her Government is to make it through to the election.

Remember when Phillip Field’s discretions were only “judgement issues” according to Helen Clark. Lets see what the judge says about those “judgement issues.”

Clark should break her silence. Arguably, the Owen Glenn donation also breaks the rules set out in the Cabinet Manual.

Garner makes the cogent point that MMP causes all who sup with the devil to be tainted.

Further, as Garner notes Peters even if not breaching a law may well have breached required codes of conduct, ie ethics and morality. Was it not Clark who only last week conjured the vision of a ‘moral crisis’ at TVNZ, and by implication implied that such lapses of any kind were not to be tolerated on her watch?

Garner goes on:-

Auditor General Kevin Brady should investigate Peters. He’s nailed Labour before. He’s got the guts to nail Peters. The IRD should look at the tax status of the donation. The Privileges Committee should start its kangaroo court – at least it would provide some theatre.

Absolutely, in a true democracy this is what would happen. Today, in New Zealand who knows!

Then Garner comments:-

Peters may have used up his nine lives. He voted to end secret and covert funding – yet took it on the side. Indeed, it was so secret, we’re meant to believe he didn’t even know.

Not only did he vote for it, he trumpeted his moral rectitude and how he was so much better than anyone else. HIs party continues to peddle this message on it’s web site.

Yet he and Labour are the ones who have consistently been seen to be in discussions over potential breaches of the new legislation they were so intent on passing.

Then as Garner comments:-

He should resign. The saga is a disgrace. And on his way out he should apologise to the NZ Herald Political Editor Audrey Young who broke the story.

Duncan, many would agree with you, but at the same time there are some who still thinks Winston walks on water.
Adam loves this next bit:-

But don’t hold your breath. There’s more chance of Peters working in a multi-party coalition with Jeanette Fitzsimons as Prime Minister, Tariana Turia as her deputy and Jim Anderton as Foreign Minister.

Absolutely, and that coalition is less likely than a cold day in hell, or snow in Kolkata.

Garner then postulates a scenario, beloved of Labour:-

Imagine if the Exclusive Brethren loving Nats had denied getting 100k then coughed up under pressure.

He then floats a scenario by Peters and Labour in response:-

Would Peters go easy on John Key? Would Helen Clark stay silent, muttering, “it’s a party matter”? You know the answer.

Is the Pope Catholic? Do bears shit in the woods?

Here we have hypocrisy and potential wrongdoing on a massive scale. This is a cancerous and corrosive boil at the centre of the body politic in New Zealand. It must be lanced and the pus disposed of immediately.

We, “the morons”, the voters of this country demand that this arrogant man who regards us with contempt be investigated, until such time as such investigation is complete he should be suspended from all offices and functions as a Member of Parliament.

This investigation should be by the Auditor General not by some tame lawyer or ‘go to’ guy. In fact ideally it should be by a Royal Commission.

Should this mean impeachment, so be it!

No more should voters have to put up with Jesuitical contortions by politicians to excuse their behaviour.

We, the taxpayers, voters and ordinary people of this country demand strong action, NOW!!
