Scoopit!

In an earlier post Adam welcomed Chris Trotter to the blogosphere. He noted that CT welcomed the use of humour as well as dialectic.

Adam hopes CT meant that, because The Dim-Post seems to have taken Crosby Textor Chris Trotter at his word. The Dim-Post has correctly picked up on CT’s approach to the use of pseudonyms by bloggers, but unfortunately CT does not appear to realise that there are many varied and valid reasons as to why some bloggers choose to use ‘pen names’. Indeed many writers have done this in the past. There is nothing inherently evil or dishonourable in such an approach.

The Dim-Post takes a couple of other swipes at CT and mildly pokes the borax at Russell Brown’s Hard News as well. All good clean fun.

Adam has the suspicion though that a blog will not be admitted to CT’s ‘hallowed’ blogroll unless he can post your ‘real’ name. How sweet.

Adam wonders whether CT thinks he is doing the blogging community some kind of favour by commencing to blog. CT may well find the blogosphere a little more rambunctious than he may be used to.

At least CT does not use the ‘royal we’ which seems so beloved of Winston in recent days, especially in his speech. Has anyone else noted that?

“There is nothing inherently evil or dishonourable in such an approach”

I completely agree Adam. There are plenty of good reasons why people don’t blog under there name – all the other commentators on TVHE can’t use there real name for various reasons.

I don’t understand it when people complain about others using pseudonyms, surely as long as they are not using the pseudonym as a cloak to hide behind while generating piles of insults it does not matter! What is important is what the people actually write.

Well said Adam. As I noted on Trotter’s blog:

Just a thought – don’t be too critical on those of us who blog anonymously. I would love to blog under my own name, but my business could be compromised – and I’m not prepared to put the jobs and livelihoods of around 18 employees at risk – that would be failing in my “good employer” obligations. Blogging under a pseudonym gives me the best of both worlds.”

Now I am sure that Trotter will, being a good leftie, respect my wish to defend my staff and my business!! But I do not expect to make it onto his blogroll. I’ll just have to get over it, won’t I ;-)
