Ralston targets Winston and the luvvies at Sounds like Helen
Under the heading Winston flogs the old favourites Bill Ralston, in his mediascrum blog, turns his acerbic wit upon Mr Peters and his recent comments on immigration, along the way Ralston takes the opportunity to poke the borax at amongst others ‘Moaning Report’, Radio New Zealand, perceived bias by RNZ, Peters of course and his entourage
This extract from the start of the post conveys the flavour:-
Wow! In a shock move Winston Peters has played the immigration card!
Good grief, he’s been doing this with monotonous regularity since 1996 and he still gets media coverage for it?
The impossibly named Radio New Zealand National Morning Report was febrile with excitement this morning over his announcement yesterday that New Zealand First wanted to slash the immigration quota from 50,000 to 10,000.
The luvvies at National Radio (I’ll keep calling it that instead of the other ridiculous mouthful) really are bending over backwards this election to throw Labour the most support it can give in its news coverage.
Its less than subtle bias is becoming laughable.
At the end he points out another of the absurdities in Peters increasingly nonsensical rants, viz:-
He went on to slam the free trade agreement with China as “foolish” because the Yellow Peril will set up factories here and import cheap Chinese labour.
It is not clear why they would go to the bother of building plants here and shipping over hordes of industrious cheap workers rather than simply use what they have in China.
Indeed, yet no one in the MSM ever seeks to question such nonsense from Peters.
Ralston’s final paragraph digs at both Peters and Helen Clark – All in all an enjoyable piece from Ralston, with a few skewers of the bodies politic and commentariat as well:-
It was always a source of confusion to me why Helen Clark wanted a Foreign Minister who didn’t like foreigners.
Maybe she is wondering that, too, now because at the same time she was campaigning at a Hamilton mosque stressing the need for skilled migrants, Winston was once again harping on about the need to shut the country’s doors and make it some kind of private club.
Read and enjoy, some of the comments in the thread are quite funny as well.
Adam thinks Ralston is on the money with the comments about – Radio New Zealand National or Sounds like Helen
