Blog personality typing
Ok, so Adam was following along with other bloggers in submitting The Inquiring Mind to Typealyzer. (Thanks Homepaddock). Somewhat to Adam’s surprise the blog assessment came back as ENTP. Previous assessments Adam has done using Myer-Briggs have all confirmed Adam as INTP.
So Adam decided to do the Myers- Briggs again and came back ENTP as well. Now admittedly the MBTI test was an abbreviated one and not the full Monty, but Adam confesses he is a little surprised that he has changed from and I to an E, though it may have been moving from just one side of the line to just the other.
Anyway an interesting exercise.
Oh and ENTP – The Visionaries
The charming and trend savvy type. They are especially attuned to the big picture and anticipate trends. They often have sophisticated language skills and come across as witty and social. At the end of the day, however, they are pragmatic decision makers and have a good analytical abilitity.
They enjoy work that lets them use their cleverness, great communication skills and knack for new exciting ventures. They have to look out not to become quitters, since they easily get bored when the creative exciting start-up phase is over.
Adam agrees with some, though not all of the comments. Not too sure about charm nor the great communication skills bit , nor some other things for that matter, but other aspects ring true.

Hi there! I came across this post through my Google Alerts for the word “MBTI.” This may or may not be of interest to you, but I write a blog about the MBTI and wrote a post about how Typealyzer is basically junk. I know lots of people are checking it out for entertainment sake- and that’s totally cool…but I hope you don’t confuse those “blog type” results for your own personality type. Anyway, I won’t go into why the site is junk here, I just wanted to let you know if you wanted to learn more, here’s the original post: http://www.thembtiblog.com/2008/11/websites-that-ruin-my-day.html.
I also have a discussion in the comments section with the creator of the Typealyzer site.

“I have a low boredom threshold”
Me too, Adam.
Goes with the territory of being ENTP.
Actually on reflection I think that I started to change about the time I made a major career change moving from a professional partnership environment to a senior executive role in a corporate. So I think Dyannt may well have it sussed. I rounded out my skills and thus moved from INTP to ENTP.
One thing the analysis has right – I have a low boredom threshold.
Maybe blogging has made you more extroverted
interestingly, you can put any site in here; I have been looking at the ‘personality’ types of my company website and those of our competitors. An amusing exercise when I think of the personalities in some cases!
Adam, personally, I am an ENTP (don’t have a blog).
When I first did the questionaire about 15 years ago I registered as an INFP. Over the next 5 years I got to understand myself and observed my actions in more depth. Next time I registered as an ENFP. My personal study continued – now I am truly myself as an ENTP.
I put this down to being raised by an Introverted mother, and doing as I was told.
eg. Children should be seen and not heard. Pretty hard for a born Extrovert.
I believe social conditioning has a profound influence on how one registers when first doing the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.
Life is a ball now that I don’t feel I have to apologise for the way I am.
Barnsley Bill – I have an adult son who is an ESTP. He’s a delight to have around.
ESTP’s are the most adventurous of all the Types.
Other notes I have;
ESTP’s don’t worry – they’re happy! Active, easygoing and spontaneous, they enjoy the present moment.
Friendly and charming, ESTPs are popular and at ease in most social situations. They are outgoing, versatile and funny and may have an endless supply of jokes and stories for whatever situations they find themselves in.
Sound like you???
I liked that little analyzer. Cool link.
Jeff
Barnsley Bill is ESTP.. A doer!
Frankly I am surprised that the typealyzer believes that any brain work went into the production of the drivel i “laughingly” publish.
