At a time when we see the NZ Ministry of ‘Education’ seeking to reduce if not eliminate Shakespeare from the English curriculum, why should Adam be surprised when he reads this article from the Telegraph in London. It would appear that in his now benighted homeland the Bard is now under attack from the denizens of the Ministry there.
The article gave added bite to this Spectator cartoon, 29 November edition:-
‘Could you dumb it down?’
Truly the Philistines are on the march.
