Social Bookmarking Buttons for WordPress. com blogs

A visitor to Adam’s blog asked how I inserted the Social Bookmarking buttons which appear on many of my posts.
Some of the more common tools such as Share This do not work as The Inquiring Mind is a WordPress.com blog and as such java applets are not allowed.
Recently Adam came across a piece of donationware from Hillel Stoler called Get Social which enables a number of the more common buttons to be inserted.
