The appointments process of the Obama administration is flawed. Two more nominees withdraw. Sanjay Gupta, the media doctor, withdraws from consideration as Surgeon-General. In addition, Timothy Geithner’s nominee for his chief deputy at Treasury also declines to proceed.
So to mark the occasion, Adam links to his Classic Songs #16 – Queen’s classic -Another One Bites the Dust
More seriously, it would appear that Obama and his team have difficulty in making selections. Yet this was the transition between administrations that the media sycophantically hailed as flawless, smooth and without precedent.

OH GOD ( AND I DON’T MEAN THE ANOINTED ONE). CAN YOU IMAGINE IF PRESIDENT BUSH HAD PICKED A TV PERSONALITY FOR SURGEON GENERAL. MIGHT AS WELL HAVE PICKED GEORGE CLOONEY NOW THAT HE’S BACK IN “SCRUBS.”
The reason the transition was so smooth is that the outgoing team had their shit together and made sure it worked. Obama got credit when it really belonged to Bush but the reality is becoming obvious now he is in control. The man is not decisive
There’s speculation that some like Gupta are pulling back because they see a taint on their CV.. but the extra-ordinary number of the annointed who have tax or criminal investigations look a dead giveaway to the quality of the Dems and Whitehouse.
Implicit also, is evidence that its the politicians and political processes there that largely account for this recession. The banks, the deals, the sub primes, the Ponzi schemes, the recklessness and greed.. they start at the top.
