SNAFU at TVNZ

March 17, 2009

Keeping Stock has a lovely story of a TVNZ stuff up in regard to St Paddy’s Day involving the Pogues.

PS – Is Shane McGowan the ugliest man in the music business?

Cheers for that Adam. I don’t know if anyone at TVNZ reads Keeping Stock, but I do note that from 7.30am onwards (I posted at 7.19am) the Pogues CD (I think it was “If I Should Fall from Grace with God”) was retired, and slightly less “edgy” Irish music was being played.

When the little SNAFU happened, I recognised the tune immediately, also being a long-time Pogues fan, and I thought “they won’t will they?”, knowing what was to come in the chorus – but they did, and I cracked up, a la Paul Henry!

Pogues are one of my favourite bands. I have one of their CDs on the player in the car.

Another excellent band of similar ilk is The Men They Couldn’t Hang.

ahhh! The pogues. I was introduced to them many years ago by my cousin from Belfast (Northern Ireland that is) Awesome music although McGowans teeth can be a bit mutch some times.
Nice to see them getting prime toime airtime!
