Herald ups cover price again

March 31, 2009

Adam likes to read a newspaper over coffee in the morning. So for many years he has purchased both the Dominion Post and the NZ Herald. Yes, he reads them on-line as well, but that is not quite the same.

However, times change. In future he is unlikely to buy the Herald. Why you ask? Well this morning when he purchased the two papers, he was told the Herald had risen in price yet again to the sum of $1.80.

Somehow yet another price increase did not seem warranted. So Adam intends to read the Herald on-line in future.

It is not the amount 10cents, but the fact that it is yet another impost and one which just seems unreasonable.

UPDATE: have corrected the egregious error which Ed Snack points out below.

Frankly the quality of the NZ broadsheets is risible when compared with the likes of the NY Times, The Times, Telegraph etc…

Admittedly there is rather large difference in resources available but even so they could do much better with what they’ve got. Some of the blogs do much better for free !

    Oh, a gremlin.

I must be thinking and writing like a Herald sub-editor.

    Have corrected.

Surely a typo there Adam, “However, times change. In future he is likely to buy the Herald. ” should be “In future he is unlikely to buy…” or some such re-arrangement of the words.
