Climate change rhetoric reaches new levels of absurdity
Christopher Booker, a climate change sceptic, writes more scathing commentary at The Telegraph. He notes these gems:-
Does one not get the feeling that all this propaganda over the terrifying threat of global warming is beginning ever so slightly to turn people’s minds? Caroline Lucas MEP, the leader of the Green Party, last week agreed on television that flying to Spain was “as bad as knifing a person in the street”, because air travel like this is causing people to die “from climate change”.
Dr Richard Dixon, director of the Scottish WWF, was at the same time claiming that failing to ensure one’s home is “energy efficient” was a “moral crime”, as “anti-social as drink driving”, and “we should be having a discussion as to whether it should become an actual crime”.
This echoed the recent observation of Ed Miliband, our Energy and Climate Change Secretary, that opposing wind farms should be as “socially unacceptable” as not wearing a seatbelt.
This is all totally over the top. The fact that supposedly responsible people are mouthing this claptrap is frightening. Where did all this fundamentalist fervour emerge from? Why is propaganda and spin taken as the equivalent of Holy Writ?
According to people like Ms Lucas then all tourists to NZ are criminals. Explain that to the motel workers and others who would lose their livelihood if our tourism industry collapses.
Explain to a worker on minimum wages why he is being sent to jail because he cannot afford to be energy efficient. That is the logical absurdity of the position taken by Richard Dixon. The government does not have the money to hand out to achieve this. Yet no doubt the believers see forests of money trees owned by the state everywhere they look.
Beware, eco-fascism is on the march seeking to curb your freedoms.

As in 16th century, the world is astoundingly retreating from reason and is being squeezed by a neo-religious Green movement, exercising the power of political correctness, that is now accepted as a fashionable pursuit.
In the 16th century, the extreme hardships and destruction caused by global cooling prompted widespread pogroms against witches, who were blamed for the abnormal weather and the famine and epidemics brought in its wake.
Now, five centuries on, a similar witch-hunt is gaining momentum over climate change. This time, the targets are capitalism and western values; but the principal victims are the world’s poor and not the least, truth itself.
Besides the ridiculous claims by the British Green Party leader Caroline Lucas MEP, Dr Richard Dixon director of the Scottish WWF and the Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband, Britain is now legitimising anarchy all in the name of a perceived and yet unproven threat of man-made global warming. A jury solemnly decided that it is ok to break the law and cause more than £35,000 criminal damage to a coal-fired power station because of the threat of man-made global warming. The Independent reported:
“In a verdict that will have shocked ministers and energy companies the jury at Maidstone Crown Court cleared six Greenpeace activists of criminal damage. Jurors accepted defence arguments that the six had a ‘lawful excuse’ to damage property at Kingsnorth power station in Kent to prevent even greater damage caused by climate change.”
Such is the power of brain washing!
Knowing a thing or two about totalitarian ideologies, the Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus, summed up the phenomenon of this neo-religous Green movement:
“He likened the situation to his former experience under communist government, where arguing against the dominant viewpoint falls into emptiness. No matter how high the quality of the arguments and evidence that you advance against the dangerous warming idea, nobody listens, and by even advancing skeptical arguments you are dismissed as a naïve and uninformed person. The environmentalists say that the planet must be saved, but from whom and from what?‘
In reality’, the President commented, ‘we have to save it, and us, from them’.”
