Wellington Watering Holes
On a parochial note Adam posts a list of Wellington watering holes that enjoy his patronage from time to time. When depends as much on mood and where he happens to be. Some benefit as a matter of convenience and as a place to meet as much as for anything else.
Some go in and out of favour, as do people.
A watering hole that finds favour one day, may not on another, but these represent a current list of ones that he visits reasonably regularly.
The list is in no particular order of preference:-
1 Beaujolais – wine, conversation, ambience
2 Arbitrageur – great wine list, food – good cheese& ham, bit corporate
3 Leuven – people, reasonable food, good beer
4 Black Harp – people. reasonable food of a comforting hearty style
5 Pravda – coffee, not so good since change of ownership, avoid ladies who lunch, food
6 Trax – breakfast, convenient when you have missed the train
7 Backbencher – fun, hearty food, political cartoons
8 Thistle Inn -good pub
9 Colonial Carrying Company – new bar in Chews Lane, a bit soulless
10 D4 – Irish style, reasonable food, convivial
There are others, but visits are infrequent and some are not what they used to be. Some are best for coffee and breakfast, others are good all day.
