No doubt with a cup of railway tea and a pie
I can remember many journeys from Palmy to Auckland or vice versa in the 1970′s, with the obligatory stop at Taumarunui in the dark of night.
I remember Mike Moore doing a version of this, either just before or just after he got rolled as Labour leader.
It had a certain poignancy about it…
Almost enough to make me say, bring back the trains
