Copyright and wrongs

May 6, 2009

At The Economist website there is a debate in progress on ‘Copyright and Wrongs‘ – the motion for debate is:-

This house believes that existing copyright laws do more harm than good.

The proposition has been put by:-

Professor William FisherWilmer Hale Professor of Intellectual Property Law, Harvard Law School

Opposing is:-

Professor Justin Hughes - Professor of Law, Cardozo Law School, New York

Others ‘speaking’ in the debate include various intellectual property experts. There is the opportunity to comment as the ‘debate’ progresses. The debate runs for several days.

You may need to register to ‘hear’ all the material.

Given the issues we have seen in NZ over S92A this seems a debate worth looking at as it progresses.

At this time on Day 2 of the debate 77% vote in favour of the motion and 23% against.
