The Indian general election is underway. The election takes some weeks to complete. The FT has an In-depth section. It is interesting to note how resilient Indian democracy has proved. Yet at the same time one family has dominated Indian politics for the last 70+ years – the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.

I always found the fact that some cousins, grandchildren, etc of Nehru and Gandhi kept cropping up in Indian government quite sad. I am not sure this was what Gandhi had in mind. I hope not, because I would like to keep admiring him.
