For Captain Renault and his latterday counterparts

It does not matter which political party is in office, but it seems to Adam that the politician is often shocked by things that are not in themselves shocking, but which for some reason the politician in question or indeed several politicians have a desire to be shocked by. Adam cannot work out why, unless they think we the people will be taken in by such faux shock/outrage.

This reflection, one which is recurrent, came back to Adam today as he came across various references to Christine Rankin today. Now Adam has made it clear that he thinks that Rankin’s appointment may not have been the wisest move, but tme will tell.

The shock/outrage by a number of politicians though seems to Adam to come very much into the faux category.

This ‘shock’ reminded Adam of this classic movie clip from Casablanca.
