Could it be that Key and Bennett got it right on Rankin.
Does Rankin embody the feelings of a silent majority? Is she the poster woman for those who applauded Brash’s Orewa speech?

I have a personal reason not to like Rankin.
However I do believe that she will be fearless in defending the right of children and I believe that the children we all should care about will benefit from her passion to help them.
I have to wonder though, would she have been more effectual in the children’s commissioner role rather than the families commission?
She will have to perform exceptionally well to justify the political capital spent by John Key this week.
John’s letter says it all.
You may be correct that Rankin does embody the feelings of the silent majority.
