NRT – oppressor of free speech
There is a blog out there, indeed there are many.
The blog I reference is called No Right Turn. It is a left wing blog. Adam reads this blog. The author often has good points to make.
However, on a perusal of his daily reads Adam has decided to purge NRT. Reason being NRT allows nobody to comment on his/her posts.
NRT is not allowed to be sullied by any opinion other than that of the blog owner.
Yet NRT claims it promotes democracy. NRT is left wing and must be good. After all only left wing people are democratic. Grant Robertson tells us so, repeatedly.
Yet NRT does not allow questioning or debate.
Therefore NRT is to Adam unacceptable. Adam will read NRT occasionally, but NRT will not be referenced or linked.
Adam has quite often referenced The Standard, because although they promote a point of view Adam does not agree with, The Standard allows people to comment.
What is NRT afraid of?
Why will NRT not debate issues?
Comments are closed.

Adam: I also find NRT’s lack of comments frustrating. I/S is probably the most reasoned of the left-wing blogs and often has topical and eminently debatable posts. It really doesn’t take a lot of effort to moderate your blog and half the point of blogging is debate.
Oh, and Lynn is a complete WOMBAT (Waste Of Money, Brains And Time). Fortunately, he loses interest if you ignore him.
What makes lprent even more stupid is that overall I was complimenting NRT.
My point was that a blog in favour of democracy and free speech did not in fact allow same, but lprent proceeded to demonstrate why the left are not in favour of free speech and democracy.
Private property – something you appear to not be in favour of.
Don’t be daft. The reason that I/S turned off the comments years ago was because the moronic trolls of the right would descend periodically and make the comments section look like a sewer. The comments were vile. The people had no opinions that were more than rants without any thought.
The same used to happen to The Standard, and for that matter to HardTalk. Much the same has happened to every popular blog including Kiwiblog. Eventually all of us got sick of it and took action in one way or another. The alternative was to allow the comments sections to deteriorate to the lowest common denominator.
Kiwiblog by forcing logins that could be disabled and sort of a rating system. The only real reason was that it was cheap to moderate. NRT by turning off comments so I/S had more time to write and research those marvelous posts.
At The Standard, we started running an active anti-trolling campaign. However we could do that because of the number of people we had writing and moderating on the site. It meant that we could take turns and really hammer the mindless trolls. This isn’t an option easily available to single writer blogs. You have to trade off between writing posts and moderating. It all takes time because there are hundreds of comments per day. It isn’t like this site or whaledrecks where the comments are measured in ones and twos.
Now ‘free speech’ – bullshit. All of these blogs are privately owned and run. Some have ads (like kiwiblog) so they let all and sundry build a sewer., it helps with the placement of ads.
Ours and NRT don’t, so we are providing a free service and enforce house rules. For some strange reason you seem to think that NRT has a requirement to let you rant on his blog – obviously you don’t value private property. But that is common amongst trolls. They like leaving graffiti over other peoples properties.
Frankly you look like you’re just a idiot with pretensions and no understanding.
Lynn – do you realise how stupid you look when you say things such as “Ours and NRT don’t, so we are providing a free service and enforce house rules. For some strange reason you seem to think that NRT has a requirement to let you rant on his blog – obviously you don’t value private property. But that is common amongst trolls. They like leaving graffiti over other peoples properties.
Frankly you look like you’re just a idiot with pretensions and no understanding.”
All you have done is come and leave graffiti over Adam’s blog with your self-serving rant. And that was after he had complimented you!!
I2
Do not worry.
In effect he proved my point.
Adam
He did, didn’t he Adam. Fancy a fellow like Lynn falling into a trap like that
I2: I take exception to people saying what other people should do with their time.
A/S doesn’t think that people should have freedom to do what they wish with their time. He wishes instead to try to say what is or is not acceptable in the way that other people spend their time, when it doesn’t affect his life in any significant way. That is just stupid, totally unacceptable, and shows that he should really go and read his namesakes books a lot more. There are whole chapters in there about people having the freedom to choose how they expend their time
I’m afraid that I have issues with pious jumped up little dictatorial bigots who do that. To cover their dictatorial behaviour they whack some ‘principle’ like ‘free speech’ on top of their bigotry, and presume to try to say what others should do.
When I find pompous gits like this I enjoy pointing out exactly how pathetic they are……
You really are a self righteous pillock are you not lprent
What a lot of tosh you post.
My post was about the self righteous cant peddled by NRT who refuses to let anyone gainsay his/her remarks.
All you have done is re-inforce my point.
Oh and calling me an idiot with pretensions and saying you are superior because you have a team, what a pathetic little person you are.
Unlike many, I have been prepared to give you and your blog the benefit of the doubt.
Now I understand why many will not.
You appalling, bigoted tosser.
As for saying I do not value private property, what a bizarre comment from you.
Oh, and all I did was express a point of view.
It is known as free speech.
Obviously something you have problems with.
As I have also expressed my point of view. Live with it.
You really are a pompous little pillock.
Actually all I said was that I was going to purge NRT from my list of regular reads.
Then I asked why NRT did not allow comments.
I did not say he had to allow comments.
You are entitled to your point of view as I am to mine.
If I am pompous then you are an opinionated self righteous prat, but I really don’t care.
If you link to any particular post at No Right Turn you might take a contrary view to, a link to your objections appears where Comments used to be. It’s not the same but it is the way it is.
OK
But it is still not a good look
