The politics of self abasement

Christopher Caldwell in his weekly column for the FT looks at Barack Obama’s Cairo speech.

In some ways the title of the column says it all ‘The politics of self abasement‘.

The speech may have been well crafted and well meant, whether it will do anything other than encourage some to demand even more Adam does not know.

But appealing on the basis of faith just does not cut it with this blogger. It seems just another Tony Obama moment. It seems very much like appeasement.
