Treasury stuffs up again!
The latest stuff-up isn’t as costly as the time it miscalculated the size of the deficit by some half a billion dollars, but politically it’s probably a bigger boo-boo.
Its spreadsheet showing that National ministers had outspent Labour two-to-one on travel over the period December to February compared with the same period in 2007-2008 was wrong.
Actually, National ministers spent slightly less – $739,000 compared with $783,000 by Labour over the comparable period.
Treasury has now fixed the error, but not before causing a good deal of embarrassment for its political masters.
Colin Espiner at his Stuff blog on Treasury screwing up big time again. This time over travel expenses for Ministers.
Yet again it appears that those people at Treasury had probems with their spreadsheets. Oh, yes it was spreadsheets the last time. Perhaps they have a problem with checking data.
Sounds like a basic process and review problem to Adam.
