Please Mr Key focus on business not the ABs
August 3, 2009
Stuff has a story of John Key calling on NZ to support the All Blacks. Please Mr Key get the country to rally round and support business, innovation and entrepreneurship and leave the All Blacks out of it.
Your job is to run the country and whilst the ABs may be a potent symbol of NZ, what afflicts them is what afflicts NZ. The need to focus, to get ahead of the game and to be a gamechanger to the maximum extent possible. Economics not sport, please.

Charismatic leadership is not necessary. Heroes sometimes come equipped with large egos.
An interesting observation is that the person who takes on the role of leader becomes a ‘guardian’ of the role, and the organisation, for the next person and the next generation.
Just relax
Firstly, JK is allowed to pass comment on the AB’s. A small comment here and there doesn’t mean he is not doing his job as our Prime Minister. I suppose you think his pillow talk with his wife have to be about politics as well????
Secondly, with the current form shown by the All Blacks I am not surprised it has risen to the highest seat in the land. They were shocking last week and if a comment from our leader can help the AB’s season from sinking like the Titanic I am all for it.
I actually think we should use the PM rather than just having him talk about politics. Get the PM right into the action and get him to do the team talk prior to the game. Henry is obviously not getting through to some of the players so a different voice could be good. Infact having him as a guest for the haka could also be good to distract the opposition in our next game against Aussie.
Good point. But like all politicians Key is not interested in economics, he is interested votes, and if there are more votes in rugby than the economy then rugby is what we get.
Well said. The feeling from here is win RWC, win 2011 election.
Stuff the election I say, your handsomely paid job with all it’s perks is to run the country to the best of your government’s ability.
