Another take on District 9
August 25, 2009
A few days ago Adam posted some comments on District 9, the new sci-fi film directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson.
Earlier today Adam read a post at Halfdone recounting Scrubone’s reaction on seeing the film.
Then he came across this review at The Economist which looks beyond the common take on District 9 as an allegory on apartheid and posits a different view of the film. This view suggests that many have made one connection based on the film’s location and apparent subject, but there might well be a second level of connction to be made. An interesting thought.
The Economist reviewer sees the film as a clever film with a satirical edge.
