    Thanks Adam, is that the Capitol the hood is on, and why is it perched on that building. It seems, well, a tangled illusion. Yes, Carter once again showed why he is the number one failed president of the 20th century, working on going for the all time title.

    Ed isn’t quite sure he gets this one Adam. That’s surely Carter and Obama walking away from, where ? Are they being watched by a “KKK” hood, or are they leaving one there for people to see, or… Certainly the level of racist rhetoric is being cranked up in the US, but it does seem to be coming largely from the Democrats and others of that ilk.

    Perhaps you have an interpretation ?

      I think the KKK hood is meant to symbolise the spectre of racism, in a way immediately obvious to a UK audience and Obama turning his back on it, though the spectre is ever present so to speak.

      If I thought there was more subtlety then I would suggest an illusion to the fact that in the past the ‘racists’ in the South were Democrats, the so called Dixiecrats, since it was the GOP, the party of Lincoln that freed the slave and brought in emancipation post the Civil War and thus that Obam faced problems within his own party.

      Carter of course demonstrated yet again why he was such a wally as President by setting this hare running.
