Re-writing history

Michael Coote had an acerbic piece in last week’s print edition of the NBR 9page 20) which does not appear to have made it online atall. In this column who looks at one H Clark and a recent UNDP report – Human Development: Overcoming Barriers – Human Mobility and Development.

Coote casts a suitably jaundiced eye over this tome – for example:-

Ms Clark’s fingerprints are not only all over the foreword to the UNDP report, but evident throughout the text in the staggering number of laudatory references to New Zealand, which these days has mutated into a paragon of enlightened wisdom when it comes to immigration, at least up until the Labour Party lost the 2008 general election.

One could be forgiven, upon reading the report, for thinking Labour never lost at all.

It would appear that like Stalin and Mao, there is a degree of the re-writing of history going on.

Find a copy of the article and read it. Good stuff, but Adam is inclined to wonder why we never heard this condemnation of the Leaderene when she was high. Did Adam hear the cry of criticism was met with revenge from Clark Control Central.
