Espiner preaches union supremacy

February 3, 2010

Colin Espiner writes a very poor piece on the National Standards issue at his blog. Essentially he ignores the fact that National campaigned on this issue, were elected as the Government and says the NZEI are far too powerful for Key to face down.

So in Espiner’s view the validly elected Government should kowtow to the unelected NZEI and by inference the Government should  henceforth agree with the unions on everything. Ridiculous and a totally outrageous concept.

Principals and teachers who do not implement the policies of their ultimate employer should be put on disciplinary warning and if they persist fired. Forget the fiction of Boards of Trustees, that is a fiction introduced by Tomorrows Schools to obscure things.

Education is funded from our taxes. Such insubordination as that threatened by the NZEI would not be tolerated outside of the public sector.
