Winners, but perhaps only for a skirmish. Auckland ratepayers because apart from trougher Mike Lee, they agreed not to splash out on the ridiculous notion of a obnoxious building on the waterfornt for ‘party central’.
There are plenty of alternatives, John Key’s idea of a ‘party central’ is silly and bereft of commonsense, especially when you look at the appalling designs for buildings.
Mr Key take note, another cheapjack ‘icon’ is not required.
Winners – Auckland Ratepayers – even if only for a round, but if Key is wise and given the mess being made by Rodney Hide of the Super City, he would be wise to heed the message.

Auckland rate payers are the winners because their elected representatives yet again failed to agree on doing anything constructive with the waterfront … Hmmmmmmm.
Auckland ratepayers are the winners for the fact that the mayors do not want to rush in and commit millions on what is quite probably the solution to a problem that does not really exist.
A more considered approach rather than some white elephant for the RWC is needed.
