Breathtaking hypocrisy from who else….
Back for a few days, the wicked witch of Helengrad could not fail but to poison the well. Here for her birthday, to receive a high public honour and a honorary doctorate of laws from Auckland University. (Shurelya judgmental error, must be plagiarism – Ed.)
The Greatest Living New Zealander could not resist attacking the Key government, which is in many ways responsible for her current position, having spent public money supporting her bid to become UNDP chief.
One of the areas the GLNZ attacked Key and his administration on was the prospect of mining in the Conservation Estate, according to Audrey Young:-
It may be because she is a former Conservation Minister that Clark felt strongly enough to put the boot into the prospect of mining DOC land.
Before heading off her 60th birthday party at Chris Carter’s place in Auckland, she told Paul Holmes on Q+A yesterday that “some things are more important than money.”
Yet as Young was balanced enough to point out:-
The trouble with Clark’ position is it is a case of do as she says, not as she did. Clark’s Government was responsible for approving the Pike River Coal Mining under the Paparoa ranges in the DOC estate 50km from Greymouth.
Yet again Clark was all mouth and no substance. Rather like her ‘achievements’ in respect of climate change – though she happily accepted an award for climate change achievement, when in fact her regime had accomplished zilch.
As usual with Clark denigrate, obfuscate, but do exactly what you accuse others of doing.
Yet last week the MSM, especially it seems Radio NZ and TVNZ fawned over her. What is new?

two wrongs never make a right. Pike River was wrong whether it was Labour or National.
This it is not a left — right debate– Kiwis from all political views wish to see national parks and the Coromandel conservation land and coast protected from mining. UMR poll taken in 1997 had 62% supporting a mining ban on the Coromandel and only 22% opposed. It was a National government which enacted that the law which currently protects the Coromandel and national parks from mining.
And Pike River was never in Schedule 4 so was open to any Govt allowing mining there. If it had been in Schedule 4 No govt could have touched it. Which is why Kiwis won’t stand for this Govt taking land out of Schedule 4.
