Thought for Today – Advertising on National Radio
March 6, 2010
Adam does not see what all the fuss is about. Reason, RNZ effectively carries advertising all the time. So why should it give huge amounts of advertsing away for free.
Consider the following:-
- extensive interview with Theresa Gattung on Nine to Noon with Kathryn Ryan, which was nothing more than a puff for Gattung’s new book in which she attempts to write history as she chooses to see it – the interview was not news nor current affairs
- This Sunday we are promised even more Gattung on Radio Death Warmed Up, aka Chris Laidlaw
- Friday afternoon with Jim Mora an interview with a singer, which was amongst other things an extended promo for the singer’s current tour and records
Just 3 items in a very limited sampling. So just what are the defenders of Radio NZ defending, because at present RNZ could at times be seen as nothing more than a PR machine for various publishers, record companies and the rest
