2nd Test – OZ out for 231, 1st innings

March 27, 2010

Almost unbelievable.

Can NZ capitalise on this?

Vettori aided by Southee:-

Captain Daniel Vettori, 4-36 off 19.3 overs and young paceman Tim Southee, 4-61 off 19, did the damage for New Zealand on the pair’s home ground at Seddon Park, with Vettori celebrating his 100th test in style.

4 for 36 at under 2 per over, truly a centrurion of NZ cricket

Imagine how good Southee could be now if he had not been mucked around by successive selectors. This young man has been the future of the NZ pace attack for 3 or 4 years and had he been played regularly would be knocking more top players over now.

Well done Vettori too – now for the batsment to prosper on what looks a good test strip for the next two days at least. To win the game we need to only bat once.

Yep, about time New Zealand stepped up in Test cricket. We are competitive against anyoen in the shorter forms of the game, but in recent years have seriously failed in tests.

We ne a first innings of 450 to seriously put the heat on the Aussies. I’m not holding my breath for that, but at least the Black Caps got their shit together with their bowling and fielding today, for the first time in some while in a Test match.
