Pubs I have known #15 – Hero of Waterloo, The Rocks, Sydney
May 29, 2010
When visting Sydney this is one of Adam’s favourite pubs. It is not on the main tourist drag, but up above and near the Garrison Church, which is worth a visit in itself.
On the weekends this old pub used to have an excellent traditional jazz band made up up of old timers in the very real sense of the word who really enjoyed themselves. The clientel was an eclectic mix of loacls and tourists.
The pub has a website and apparently now has award winning food, but still features the old time jazz band plus other bands. It has been a while since Adam visited, but hopefully it is still worth going. try Saturday afternoons for the old time jazz.

Always a good run is the Hero. Been there many a time. Far enough around the corner from the madding crowd at the Rocks.
