Adam’s Wowser of the Week Award
Wowser of the week goes to those people who keep on about how we all have to suffer more price increases and restrictions in order to combat the ‘epidemic’ of binge drinking which is supposedly sweeping the nation.
The group is exemplified by Prof Doug Sellman with his totally over the top pronouncements on this issue. In fact he needs to realise that in reality his campaign of hyperbole turns people off from the message.
Why is it up to society to regulate behaviour in matters such as this, when it should be up to the individual. Small wonder that we see so many breakdowns in society in all areas as people are no longer encouraged to take responsibility for their behaviour, as that increasingly it seems has become the role of the state.
Tangentially Adam is perplexed at the notion of an epidemic of binge drinking as he did not realise that drinking to excess was a communicable illness. Ah well what is a little corruption of the language after all!
