Cycling and cyclists

November 22, 2010

Much ado in the media regarding cyclists in the last week.

Yet it seems as if cyclists think they are the dominant force on the roads.

Yes, motorists should be careful, alert and aware of cyclists.

Yet over the weekend Adam witnessed cyclists riding severl abeast and blocking traffic; cyclists failing to use cycle paths when they were available and clearly marked.

Recently he has seen cyclists ignore traffic lights and fail to have lights on their bikes at night.

If cyclists want to be lisatened to, they should obey the rules and take care themselves.

“If cyclists want to be lisatened to, they should obey the rules and take care themselves.”

Fine – if motorists will do the same.

    (Disclosure: I’m a cyclist and a motorist.)

Agree, I also think motorists need to take care when opening car doors etc.

But in the same vein I abhor cyclistswho ride on pedestrian paths, ignore lights etc
