Adam’s Arrogant Politican of the Week Award
A winner by a country mile in this category is Simon Power and his so called electoral reform legislation.
Why, well this legislation re-introduces some of the more pernicious aspects of Labour’s draconian and malevolently anti-democratic Electoral Finance Act, against which National campaigned hard.Fulfilling an election promise, National repealed this appalling law soon after taking office.
Power seeking to achieve consensus has allowed Labour to write back into the law some of the worst elements. This is betrayal of the promises National made prior to the 2008 election. It is arrogance of the highest order, by presuming that the politicans know best and that Labour’s agreement to the law is a necessity. Tosh!
All Labour needs to do is when it is next in power is pass a short amendment bill to lower the limits.
Simon Power, arrogant and hubristic and presumes he knows what is best for us. We the electors did not elect Power and his colleagues to foist upon us yet another egregious piece of rubbish law.
Mr Power re-think this legislation, now, before it is too late. Toss it out, before you are tossed out.

What an outrage. I won’t be voting in this lot again, traitors. Power won’t listen, they’re all drunk on their power now. Ahhh, thank goodness for elections…are there any good guys left?

Appalled and dismayed, especially as so many lambast Power as a liberal.
Anyway economically conservative I maybe, to some reactionary on other issues, but I am firmly pro-democracy, uncomfortable though the system can be at times.
This proposed law, like the Labour one before it, is anti-democratic and has no place in a free society.
