Crown & Greyhound - Dulwich

Pictured above is the Crown & Greyhound pub in Dulwich village, South London, a huge Victorian pub.

I have fond memories of this place, known colloquially as the Dog & Vomit.

Once memorably described to me by a friend as frequented by ‘Hooray Henriettas and chaps that sit down to pee’. nevertheless we had some good times there.

Good to see it still exists and gets a fairly good write up in a number of the London pub guides, as per this extract from Pubs.com.

Many huge Victorian pubs have fallen into disrepair or worse. Not this one. Situated in pretty Dulwich Village, the Crown & Greyhound is a vital part of the community. Apart from serving good beer and food, it acts as venue for the wine society, a poetry group, holds wedding receptions and has a license for civic marriages.

Serves Youngs Bitter and London pride amongst other beers.
