Kate Winslet , lovely woman, great actress

the queen of the cleavage Hilary Alexander ponders Kate Winslet's choice of clothing for the forthcoming Baftas this weekend.

OK it is fun to show a picture of a lovely woman and Kate Winslet is certainly that. The picture is from an article in The Telegraph speculating on what Ms Winslet might wear to the forthcomin BAFTAS. Kate Winslet is also a great actress.

The article refers as well to the recent photo shoot Ms Winslet did for Vanity Fair

Last week Adam went to see Revolutionary Road in which Kate Winslet co-stars with Leonardo Dicaprio and which film was directed by Winslet’s husband Sam Mendes.

Set in 1950s US suburbia, Connecticut, the film examines the disintegration of a relationship.

Interestingly the film was not the one for which she is yet again Oscar nominated that nomination was for The Reader. Yet at the Golden Globes, Kate Winslet’s award for The Reader was in Best Supporting Actress category. At the BAFTAS she is nominated in the Best Actress category for The Reader and Revolutionary Road.

Adam wonders if part of the reason Kate Winslet was not nominated for Revolutionary Road was due to aspects of the storyline.

Have yet to see The Reader, but thoroughly recommend Revolutionary Road. Though some critics did not like the film.

On the question of acceptance speeches and following Kate Winslet’s ‘performance’ at the Golden Globes – Adam really enjoyed this very amusing piece by Hugo Rifkind at The Times. It is very, very funny.

I like Streep, saw her the other day in Doubt where she played opposite the superb Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Liked her in Sophies Choice, not so keen on her in some other movies – especially Out of Africa. Thought she was excellent in The Devil Wore Prada.

Judi Dench is superb. Performances I remember include Tea with Mussolini, Mrs Henderson presents amongst many.

Renee Zellweger has been good in a number of films. She plays well opposite Ewan Macgregor for example. Did not like her in that awful film she did with Jim Carrey, but they have been because I am not that fond of Jim Carrey. I think you are correct in that Zellweger is best suited to comedy.

I am beginning to think that you may be a Kate Winslett fan (she says tongue in check). And yes I do agree she is a beautiful woman and a great actress but I also like Meryl Streep (Im not sure you do. Did you see her in Sophies Choice?) Judi Dench, and yes Renee Zellweger ( I think she is a great comedian).

I am now waiting for the flack that I know is to come!
