The latest edition of Trans-Tasman picks up on John Key’s response to a question earlier in the week from Phil Goff on whether Key had confidence in the Minister of Finance:-

“Yes, I have complete confidence in the Minister of Finance. If we want to
have concerns about Ministers of Finance, maybe we should have concern for a former Minister of Finance, who may well find himself in breach of the Public Finance Act.”

TT notes as well that the Government is not pleased with what it has found in the way of financial management in regard to some areas of government. ACC is cited as an example.

David Farrar had noted the exchange earlier in the week. TT likened the exchange to National preparing to blow up a mine under Labour.
