The Saturday Rant

05/09/2009

Today several aspects of Adam’s day have really irritated him. Especially some in themselves minor incidents, but which when added together combined to really piss Adam off. Plus a few things from other days as well. So a selection of irritants from the tapestry that is life.

Firstly

Non availability of the NZ Herald

Yet again when Adam went to purchase the Saturday Herald at the only local stockist he found that the paper had not been delivered, despite it being after 10 a.m.

The service to outlets in the Wellington suburbs just gets worse.

Secondly

Riverbank Market – Lower Hutt (1)

As is his wont on a Saturday Adam went to purchase vegetables and some other items from the Riverbank market.

The market today appeared to be peopled by a community of aliens. Perhaps escapees from District 9 in humanoid form.

There was the elderly female alien who insisted in driving round the parking area against the traffic flow, thus constituting a hazard to herself and to everyone else.

Thirdly

Riverbank Market – Lower Hutt (2)

Another elderly alien, this time of the male variety, insisted on trying to make his purchase by dumping his items on the scales as the assistant was weighing Adam’s items.

The assistant told the alien off.

Fourthly

Riverbank Market – Lower Hutt (3)

Then Adam witnessed another female alien making purchases whilst letting her leashed mutt sniff the produce. Perhaps the mutt was from another planet as well. Did not seem all that sanitary to Adam. Made sure his purchases were from crates too far off the ground for mutt sniffing.

Fifthly

Riverbank Market – Lower Hutt (4)

Various drivers of 4 wheel drives, both male and female, who seemed unable to properly park  and/or manoeuvre their vehicles. Causing Adam to wonder why they had the bloody things in the first place.

Sixthly

Well known Lower Hutt cafe

This place is reported on various web sites as being open on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m. Consequently Adam arranged to meet someone there at 4:30 p.m. Yet the meeting place had to be re-arranged as when we got there the premises were shut, as they apparently are from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The only reason Adam had picked it was that parking is relatively easy.

Conclusion

It gets more and more easy to be a GOM – Grumpy Old Man.

Adam will be back ranting soon.
