The Light Dawns – Reality Bites #82

03/03/2010

I’m deeply embarrassed for our country. Chile experiences a massive earthquake with an unknown number of dead and hundreds of thousands of homeless, and TVNZ sees fit to spend the first half hour of the 6pm news with reporters and film crews looking at rippling water all around our coastline. It shows a mind-numbing lack of a sense of proportion, given the tragedy unfolding on the other side of the Pacific.

Then think about the cost of sending crews all over the country to take pictures of nothing very much. No wonder TVNZ is short of money.

Ms Lusk is correct, in addition we had Radio NZ with a special Morning Report on Sunday, which really told us not a lot about not very much.
