Using public safety to suppress free speech

Following on from my re-blog of Professor Turley’s item on suppressing free speech under the guise of public safety this post by David Farrar caught Adam’s eye. David was drawing attention to the banning from Australia of an anti-vaxer using the public safety argument.

Whilst the anti-vaxers are at best mis-guided and at worst very dangerous, there is a greater danger in banning them as that firstly is suppressing free speech, secondly it runs the risk of granting them credibility by suggesting the supporters of vacccination have something to hide.
