NY Times – Trump’s lawyers do not trust him to tell the truth

The front page of the NY Times carries a damming article on President Trump’s veracity. It appears that Trump’s legal team do not trust him to tell the truth in any interview with Robert Mueller.

As the article notes:-

Despite his penchant for exaggerations and falsehoods in public remarks, Mr. Trump has appeared far more aware of the legal risk of making false statements when he has been deposed in civil cases related to his businesses.

In one deposition related to a libel case that Mr. Trump brought against the journalist Tim O’Brien, Mr. Trump admitted more than two dozen times under oath that he had lied in the past about a range of subjects. Mr. Trump ultimately lost the case.

Plus from The Washington Post:-

One year after taking the oath of office, President Trump has made 2,140 false or misleading claims, according to The Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president. That’s an average of nearly 5.9 claims a day.

So even Trump’s legal team do not want him to speak to the Mueller team. So if they do not trust Trump why should anyone else?
