George Will: Trump, this sad, embarrassing wreck of a man

George Will writes at Washington Post in a scathing column Will minces no words in his condemnation of Trump meeting with Putin in Helsinki

He started with:-

America’s child president had a play date with a KGB alumnus, who surely enjoyed providing day care

He uses the example of Jeane Kirkpatrick, a Democrat and Reagan’s UN Ambassador and her speech to the 1984 Republican Convention to set the scene for this withering comment:-

In Helsinki, the president who bandies the phrase “America First” put himself first, as always, and America last, behind President Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Later he was especially acerbic about Trump’s use of language. This was telling because as some may remember this clip:-

And then this as well:-

Not surprisingly Mr Will wrote:-

Precision is not part of Trump’s repertoire: He speaks English as though it is a second language that he learned from someone who learned English last week.

Later Mr will looks at he issue of collusion with Russia, but makes the point that whatever the outcome of Robert Mueller’s investigation

The world, however, saw in Helsinki something more grave — ongoing collusion between Trump, now in power, and Russia. The collusion is in what Trump says (refusing to back the United States’ intelligence agencies) and in what evidently went unsaid

George Will then looks at why that might be and points to a number of reasons.

However, in his last paragraph he has this to say:-

But just as astronomers inferred, from anomalies in the orbits of the planet Uranus, the existence of Neptune before actually seeing it, Mueller might infer, and then find, still-hidden sources of the behavior of this sad, embarrassing wreck of a man.

Adam suspects that this will be.
