RNZ Nine To Noon: Hate Speech in NZ

As regular visitors to this blog will be aware Adam is very concerned over recent moves to put in place so called ‘hate speech ‘ laws – especially any occasioned by a rush to judgement post the Christchurch Shooting atrocity.

Any moves in the direction of restricting free speech more than it is at present need a lengthy and open debate. Unfortunately Adam is of the opinion that this will not happen.

However, there was a initial look at some of the issues in this segment on RNZ Nine To Noon on Tuesday, 9th April when Kathryn Ryan discussed some aspects of the issue with Professor Paul Spoonley of Massey University.

The discussion reminded Adam of the old Punch Cartoon regarding the Curate’s Egg – it was good in parts.
