RNZ – Morning Report: Anzac Day services in wake of Christchurch attacks + some questions which arise

There is something strange happening regarding ANZAC Day Services this year, post the Christchurch Shooting

Yesterday RNZ’s Morning Report carried these two segments on the ANZAC Day commemoration – first

The Returned Services Association has decided to combine some services and cancel others. So this April 25 there will be only 26 events in Auckland, compared with 84 last year. Graham Gibson is the RSA Auckland branch president. He talks to Susie Ferguson

Then there was this

In Christchurch, where the attack happened, ANZAC ceremonies will run as normal – except for the firing party which will not go ahead this year. The RSA president there is Peter Dawson, he talks to Susie Ferguson.

So what is going on?

Why the difference?

Is there a real threat?

Is the government being over cautious?

Will we ever know the truth?
