Shane Jones threatens Auditor-General

13/05/2019

In an attack on scrutiny of the Provincial Growth Fund, NZ First MP threatens Auditor-General and the role of oversight of public expenditure.

However, in Ardernworld why should we be surprised

Yet I am surprised as this article was bylined Hamish Rutherford, now I understand that it was a report and not an opinion piece, but as yet I have yet to see any media comment as to the wisdom or otherwise of Jones comments.

Is it now the case that Government Ministers are, if from NZ First, immune from adverse comment. Where are all the vociferous defenders of the rights of the Fourth Estate in the Key era, they have evaporated like the morning dew.
