Climate Change Bill – #4: What it might mean

I came across this morning as I was researching something else and I found it very concerning.

Think about this carefully,very carefully

Then consider what it means for the economy in terms of:

  • Jobs
  • Taxes
  • Investment
  • Choice
  • Quality of life
  • Healthcare
  • Wellbeing
  • Welfare
  • Pensions
  • Savings

Who pays?

Who suffers

This causes me to worry about whether Ardern and Shaw have any real understanding of the economic damage they are likely to do and the very negative impact that will have on this country.

I suspect that Ardern doesn’t,but that Shaw does, but is a blind ideologue who is not concerned. In other words he is a totalitarian.

I will post more on this later, but note MBIE apparently suggested in a briefing paper last year that Shaw’s proposed legislation could reduce the economy by up to 25% over time. I will try and find out more as to what they meant in that paper.

I am concerned that nobody seems to be discussing the economic effects of the proposed climate legislation and what that will really mean. Instead we see nonsense about subsidies for relatively affluent people to buy Electric Vehicles, the subsidies to be paid for, effectively by poorer people.

The deeply green people talk about sustainability but focus only on the environment without taking into account the economic and social impact of their policies. Worse, much of their policy won’t help the environment either. If sustainability is a three legged-stool they’ve cut off the economic and social legs and the environmental one is full of borer.
