Election 2020 – NZ Style: Battle Commences

So the 2020 Election Campaign in NZ is now underway.

This week we have seen Grant Robertson break an election promise, to enable more borrowing, more on that another time

National exploring the idea of a Christian poodle, not one of their best ideas.

Now we have the Tamakis of Destiny Church announce a tilt at the Iron Throne of politics in NZ.

Unfortunately, it seems they are ill prepared.

Here is last night’s interview on RNZ with Lisa Owen

She aims to get into Parliament in next year’s election.

Mrs Tamaki and her husband, Brian Tamaki – who together are leaders of Destiny Church – launched the party today.

She consulted extensively before making the decision to enter politics and she believed there was a silent majority who would support the party, she said.

Mrs Tamaki described herself as a concerned New Zealander and the time had come to make a stand

The party was not a Christian party but would offer strong family values, and do more to deliver for Māori.

This interview was, to be kind, not a good one for Mrs Tamaki. In fact the unkind might say it was a ‘trainwreck’

This is, on first looks, a ‘Christian Party’ and it seems focused very much on one racial group.
